Our team had to design a lesson plan using interactive technology to teach a subject to introductory freshmen college students. Logically, there was only one thing to be done.
We chose to teach logical fallacies! We did this by using Kahoot to develop a quiz. During this quiz, we measured the students’ comfort level with logical fallacies. The students were exposed to multiple choice, scenario-based logical fallacy questions. We then administered a post-test to examine students comfort-level after the lesson. This was done so that we could see if our learning intervention had any effect on self-reported content confidence.
Our group worked together very well. I developed the idea about arguments and the pre and post test. I used to work in an argument tutor lab in the psychology department at NIU, which came in handy. Jonathan said the idea would work great with Kahoot. I developed the skeleton of the PowerPoint slides. Jenny wrote the lesson plan. Jonathan made the Kahoot. We all made slides and in addition to my slides, I made the “this is logical,” slides.
I hope that the class had as much fun in the lesson as I had making it. I felt very comfortable presenting this information to the class in this format. I would love to work with Kahoot again in the future.
I truly enjoyed working with Jonathan and Jenny this semester! I think we came up with some really creative ideas to solve the challenges we faced.
