Pear Deck: A fruitless endeavor

Apple and Pear Australia Ltd

Though I am especially fond of eating pears, I have never been good at growing any sorts of fruit. More recently, I found that my absence of green thumb also mirrors my lack of skill in creating a Pear Deck.

One of the most challenging things about working with Pear Deck initially was that I was working in a group. My teammates were awesome! Unfortunately, I think Pear Deck is best experienced by a single user. Only one person in a group can edit a give Pear Deck at any given time.

It was difficult to see the slideshow in order to test if the slides were working or not. Once we figured out how to see the slideshow, there were still some slides where we couldn’t see if they were working or not because we would have had to publish the Pear Deck and then view it as a student would, not in our creator-mode.

Our team went through a lot of trial and error, and we ended the lesson with many of the bugs we encountered left unfixed. Still, I learned a lot, which will save me at least a bit of time with the learning curve should I use this platform again. In that way, maybe this wasn’t a totally fruitless endeavor.

Had we had more time, I believe we could have created a Pear Deck worth celebrating! At this juncture, however, we will not be winning blue ribbons any time soon.
